Worcester foodbank gets animated in its Christmas food appeal

29th November 2017

Worcester Foodbank has launched a new film to drum up support for its Christmas food appeal, with the help of one of the city’s creative businesses.

The animation highlights the items of food and other essentials the foodbank urgently needs during the countdown to Christmas, and the life-changing impact people’s donations can have on the charity’s struggling clients.

GD PR & Media has chosen Worcester Foodbank to be its charity of the year and to mark the launch of a 12-month partnership, has produced the short film which it hopes will inspire others to support the foodbank’s efforts to feed a record number of people and families trapped in food poverty this winter.

Grahame Lucas, Worcester Foodbank Manager, said:

“We’re so grateful to the team at GD PR & Media for donating their time and talents to produce this brilliant little film for us. We hope it will inspire people to help us provide food and a glimmer of hope to the thousands of desperately hungry people who are in danger of going hungry this Christmas.”

Worcester Foodbank provided more than 7,500 meals to hungry clients last December but it expects to feed an even greater number this Christmas, with demand for emergency food up by a fifth compared to this time last year.

Gillian Davies, Director of GD PR & Media, said:

“We’ve been looking for a local charity to support throughout 2018 and were moved to choose Worcester Foodbank after hearing first-hand what an incredible difference it makes to the lives of families, and particularly children, living in and around the city. We are hoping to spend some time volunteering alongside the foodbank team in the New Year, but felt that producing a video to support their Christmas drive would be the perfect way to mark the start of our partnership.”
