Charity donates almost 300 toys to foodbank appeal

13th December 2017

Volunteers at Worcester Foodbank have been left overwhelmed by a charity’s act of kindness which will help them to bless hundreds of disadvantaged children this Christmas.

The foodbank’s Christmas Toy Appeal has been boosted by a donation of 285 gifts for boys and girls from the West Midlands-based charity 4 Steps to a Smile.

The charity’s little elves got to work after witnessing foodbank’s appeal for local people to help it provide an unexpected gift to children in danger of going without a meal or present on Christmas Day.

Cary Taylor, Toy Project Manager for Worcester Foodbank, said: “We’re absolutely thrilled by this wonderful act of kindness which has taken us completely by surprise.”

“We wanted to try and surpass the 170 toys we handed out last Christmas but we never dreamed we would be able to bless this many children.”

It’s not too late to be a ‘Secret Santa’ and support the Christmas Toy Appeal. Unwrapped toys can be left in the basket behind the counter at The Entertainer store or brought directly to Worcester Foodbank in Lowesmoor Wharf. The charity’s warehouse is open on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 11am to 2pm.
