Waitrose shoppers donate more than 700 meals

27th February 2018

Enough food to provide more than 700 meals was donated by generous shoppers at Waitrose during a collection by Worcester Foodbank on Saturday (24th February).

Customers at the London Road store handed over more than 700 kg of food and other essentials, including washing powder, nappies and soap, as volunteers invited shoppers to donate items featured on the charity’s latest shopping list.

Grahame Lucas, Worcester Foodbank Manager, said: “This was only our second store collection at Waitrose but shoppers have already donated more than 1.4 tonnes of supplies, which is a remarkable effort.”

“Without this kind of support we could not continue to feed the 120 people who rely on us to avoid going hungry every week.”

Don’t worry if you missed the collection – Waitrose has a permanent collection point in store where you can leave donations.
