Foodbank unwraps Christmas appeal

12th November 2021

Worcester Foodbank is hunting for secret Santas to ensure hundreds of disadvantaged children don’t wake up to an empty stocking on Christmas Day.

We’re relaunching our Christmas gift card appeal so we can provide toy vouchers to parents and carers we help to feed and who cannot afford to buy a present for their child.

Last year your extraordinary support meant we could provide more than 400 vouchers to struggling families during the countdown to Christmas.

But we expect demand for our help to be even higher this Christmas with the withdrawal of the £20 Universal Credit uplift and rising bills like energy pulling more people into financial crisis.

Your generosity will help us to provide gift cards specifically for toy shops in the local area to the value of £15 per child in December.

You can make a donation to our appeal on our fund-raising page

It’s not just empty Christmas stockings we hope to fill.

We know many households will also face the impossible choice between paying essential household bills or putting food on the table this Christmas.

That’s why we’ve also launched our Christmas food shopping list and would love you to consider donating some of these items.

Ideally we’d love items donated by early December when we’ll begin to pack and distribute our festive food parcels.
