Hard-working volunteers at Worcester Foodbank shone a light on the challenges facing those living in crisis as HRH The Duke of Gloucester learned more about their work during a tour of the charity.
HRH was joined by the Lord Lieutenant of Worcestershire and food bank volunteer, Beatrice Grant, as he spoke to the foodbank team about their efforts to support the unprecedented numbers of people in need of emergency food parcels.
HRH was shown around the warehouse including the parcel packing areas and front of house, where volunteers spend four days a week serving clients while offering a supportive listening ear to those at the sharp end of the cost-of-living crisis.
Foodbank Operations Coordinator Emma Green said:
His Royal Highness was very keen to learn more about what we give out in the parcels, how we get food to clients and our plans to expand the warehouse so we can keep pace with growing demand. We also shared with him some of the good news and sad stories that we come across.
The tour culminated with HRH being presented with a cookbook collated by foodbank volunteers, providing recipes to help clients make the most of their food parcel.
